The run-of-show builder
The run of show lives on the event’s “Run of Show” tab. It’s built from two things: sections and blocks.
Sections and blocks
Sections are the containers — “Arrival & Welcome,” “Main Program” — and each can carry its own start time. Blocks are the lego pieces inside them: a keynote, a break, a testimonial, a transition. Every block has a title, a type, a duration in minutes, and optionally a speaker, a room, notes for the crew, and an energy level from 1 to 5.
Timing is automatic. Give a section a start time and every block’s wall-clock time cascades from the durations — the toolbar always shows the show’s start, total running time, and block count. Change one duration and everything downstream updates.
Drag, reorder, edit
Grab any block and drag it — within its section or across sections — and the schedule recalculates as it lands. Sections reorder the same way. Click a block to edit any of its details, or use “+ Section” and “+ Block” in the toolbar to grow the show. If two people are editing at once and your layout goes stale, the builder tells you to refresh rather than silently scrambling positions.
Energy levels
Each block’s energy level (1–5) is more than a label — it’s how the platform sees your day as an arc. The color legend in the toolbar runs from calm to peak, and FlowGenius uses these levels to spot risks like two flat segments running back to back.
Guest-visible and crew-only blocks
Every block is marked either guest-visible or crew-only. Transitions — mic swaps, stage resets — are crew-only by default, because guests never need to see them. Crew-only blocks stay in your builder and appear in the crew PDF (clearly flagged), and they’ll be excluded automatically from guest-facing agendas.
Versions: nothing is ever overwritten
Every event starts with run-of-show version 1, and the run of show is versioned from then on. When you apply a FlowGenius draft, it becomes a new version — the previous version isn’t deleted or modified, it’s simply no longer the current one. Nothing you build is ever overwritten by a draft.
