Inside the app: the Status row

Click “Status” in the sidebar (on a phone, it is in the menu behind the button at the top) and a panel opens over whatever you were doing. It runs the checks fresh the moment it opens and keeps re-checking while it is up. Close it with the X, the Escape key, or a click outside, and you are back exactly where you were, with nothing lost.

It exists because a health check should not cost you your place on the page. The link at the bottom of the panel opens the full public page for when you need something to share or to monitor.

Outside the app: the public page

planetevents.io/status is the page for when you cannot sign in at all, or when a stage manager is asking and you would rather send a link than a screenshot. It refreshes itself every thirty seconds, leave it open and it stays current, and it works with no account.

The four rows, and how deep each one goes

Two of the four checks reach production for real and two are shallower than a green light suggests, so each row says which it is.

“Website & app” is green if the page you are looking at reached us and got an answer. That is inferred from the page having loaded, and it is exactly as deep as it sounds.

“Database” runs a real, timed query against the production database and prints how long it took; it proves the database is answering, not that any particular event is readable. “Sign-in” calls the live sign-in service the same way, timed.

“FlowGenius AI” only confirms that drafting is switched on. It can read green while a draft is slow, because we do not spend a drafting call to check the weather.

What the banner words mean

“All systems operational” is what you want to see. “Service disruption” means the database check failed, or the board could not reach us at all. Without the database the app cannot work: pages that need your data will fail until it recovers. “Partially degraded” means one of the others failed. If it is sign-in, sessions already open keep working and new sign-ins may not. If it is FlowGenius, drafting is affected and nothing else is. “Checking…” is the moment before the first result arrives.

What this page cannot tell you

It runs on the same infrastructure it reports on. An outage big enough to take the whole platform down takes the status page with it, so if planetevents.io/status will not load at all, treat that as the answer.

We have no automatic alerting yet. Nothing pages anyone when a row turns red, which means a red light on this board is something you may well see before we do. If you find one, tell us; that is not a nuisance, it is the mechanism. Moving these checks to a host of their own is on the plan, and until then this is honestly the beta version.

If your show is today

Our status does not change your show if you have exported your PDFs. The crew PDF is one click on the Run of Show tab, every seat can pull it, and once it is on a phone or on paper it needs no login, no wifi, and nothing from us. See “Before doors open.”

If something is wrong right now and the board is green, the problem is probably specific to your event, and that is a Runner: write to us with RUNNER at the front of the subject line, or use the button on planetevents.io/contact. “Getting help” explains what that promises and what it does not.
